Hip-Hop group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony released their single "1st of tha Month" from their album E. 1999 Eternal on June 15, 1995. The song recieved a gold certification from the Recording Industry of America (RIAA).
1st of tha Month peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at number fourteen and was nominated for a Grammy award in 1996. The song is about receiving welfare checks on the first of the month. At the end of 1995, the song reached 89th position of the Billboard Hot 100.
