Organic foods are becoming more popular in american kitchens due to the fact that no preservatives, hormones or chemicals are added. Growing onions in your garden doesn’t require a lot of work, not to mention that it’s a task for the entire family to enjoy!

Scroll down for full details!

The perfect harvest

Purchasing onions form your local grocery store could be quite pricey, especially if you’ve got a big family. Everything from the dirt to the seeds used to grow onions at home should be organic. Be on the lookout as many grocery stores sell the following products!

What you will need

  • Dirt
  • Onion seeds
  • Paper towels
  • Seed tape
  • Fertilizer

The process

On one half of the paper towel, spread the tape and place 1 seed (leaving a space of 2 inches apart from each seed). Once you’ve completed one strand, fold the paper towel in half. With your fingers dig a ditch that’s no deeper than 3 inches. Carefully place the paper towel(s) with the seeds into the dirt and cover. To finish, spread a bit of fertilizer and water the dirt everyday. Soon you'll begin to see what you've planted.

CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING: Some seeds -depending on the season and state in which they are being cultivated- take a longer period of time to fully grow. Always see the back of the seed package for complete details. In no time, you’ll be able to not only grow organic onions at home, but tomatoes, cilantro and all kinds of organic goodies for your family as well as yourself to enjoy.
